The Church and The Commission Part 1
February 2, 2025

Matthew 28:16–20, “[16] Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. [17] And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. [18] And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

1. A church that will accomplish the Great Commission is a church that understands its purpose!
Explain the following statement:  The commission doesn’t exist for the Church; the Church exists for the commission. How important is it for we as the church to study, understand, and fulfill our purpose?

2. A church that will accomplish the Great Commission is a church that will submit to Christ’s command!
What are some practical ways you can begin to submit to Christ’s command to accomplish the Great Commission in your individual life? As a church body?

3. A church that will accomplish the Great Commission is a church that understands that commission predates the church!
How do you feel about the following excerpt from Pastor Christophers message?

“A Church that is not making disciples is dying, A Church that is not preaching the Gospel is dying, A Church that is not is not sending missionaries is dying, A Church that is not practicing avenues of evangelism is dying, A Church that is not ministering to the next generation, A Church that is not walking in the Power and the Presence of the Lord Jesus is Dying! And I refuse for the Church to Die on My Watch!”

What can we do to partner with Pastor to see The Assembly fulfill it’s purpose?

1)As a Commission Driven Church, we understand that All Authority belongs to Christ and not to Us!
To fulfill the Great Commission as a church, we must each first be submitted to it individually. Ae you absolutely sure you have fully submitted your life to Christ and made him Lord of your life?

2)As a Commission Driven Church, we embrace Christ’s Command to Go Therefore and discover avenues to do so!
What are some practical ways we as the church can engage with the lost of our community?

3)As a Commission Driven Church, we value the need for discipleship and partner together in our faith disciplines!
What are you doing to grow in your own personal discipleship journey? How have you been able to balance finding time to accomplish your daily tasks and spending time with the Lord?

4)As a Commission Driven Church, We Value Discipleship but also Strive to Teach Others by Our Lives as much as by Our Words!
Do you agree or disagree with Pastor’s statement: “It is IMPOSSIBLE to teach others when we do not know what Jesus taught. You can’t teach something you are not Disciplined in. Discipled in. Living It. Disciplines, or the lack thereof, will always manifest in our lives.”

5)As a Commission Driven Church, We place Great Importance on the Presence of Christ in the Church!
How important has the presence of Christ been in your own spiritual journey? How has your story inspired others?
